Why is Pergamonmuseum Closed Now?

Currently, Pergamonmuseum is closed due to renovations which are being carried out in 2 phases. The First construction phase was started in 2013, during which the North Wing featuring Pergamon Altar was closed. Still, the South Wing was open for the visitors at that time. However, the Second construction phase was started in 2023, during which the whole Pergamonmuseum building was closed. It is expected to reopen again in 2027 not the entire building but the North Wing. The construction works may continue until 2043 or earlier.

While the Pergamon Museum is closed for a while, the ‘Pergamonmuseum. Das Panorama’ remains open from 10 AM to 6 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays and also on Christmas Eve. It has limited operating hours on New Year’s Eve typically from 10 AM to 2 PM.
